Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has welcomed ODM leader Raila Odinga to Eldoret. The region will
be Raila’s latest stage where he will be advancing his Azimio la Umoja clarion call. Raila who
is yet to formally declare his 2022 presidential bid has been traversing the nation to
popularise his agenda.
Sudi called on Eldoret residents to be friendly to Raila and embrace him as he markets the
agenda he has for the nation. This, Sudi said, would foster unity in the country ahead of the
seemingly heated political contest next year.
“I wish I was in Eldoret. I have told our supporters and everyone to welcome Raila in
Eldoret. We welcome him to share with us his agenda. Others should also be allowed
to market their policies anywhere in the republic. We should not heckle each other,
everyone should be given equal chance to market their agenda,” he said.
The lawmaker suggested that he would have done everything possible to see that Raila’s
tour in the region is successful. Sudi is a known staunch supporter of Deputy President
William Ruto who is political an arch rival to the ODM party leader. He said divisional and
tribal politics have no place in the current age, asking the former prime minister to feel
welcomed and go about his business unperturbed.
“Baba Amollo Raila Odinga, you are my real father. Welcome to Eldoret, feel free to
market your agenda. Eldoret is home to all tribes. We value peace. We welcome you,”
Sudi stated
Sudi has always claimed he has some deep ties with Raila’s family despite politics tearing
them far apart. In May this year, the legislator hosted Raila Odinga Jnr at his home in
Kapseret, saying the meeting revolved around matters pertinent to their respective families.
Raila Jnr is the ODM leader’s son
. “We had a successful discussion over several things. We look forward to having
more of such similar meetings to strengthen our family ties considering that his father
Raila is also my close friend,” said Sudi.
