Thousands of Raila Odinga’s and his ODM allies’ supporters staged massive protests around the country a few weeks ago.

The squad was protesting the high cost of living and the Supreme Court verdict that saw President William Ruto designated the president elect, but a number of lives were lost during these rallies that continued for several weeks.
During these protests, a masked GSU commando opened fire on Raila’s automobile, injuring several journalists.
In related news, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, a retired judge, has demanded to know why police officers seen on tape hitting journalists during the March 30 protests have not yet been disciplined.
On Tuesday, June 27th, Madzayo brought his petition to the attention of the Standing Committee on National Security, Security, and International Relations.
He requested an explanation from the committee as to why police in the country were still using force against journalists and what measures were being done to prevent a recurrence of the problem in the Senate.
