Ngugi Wa Thiong’o Family Shares His Recent Photos After Claims He Is Sick And Neglected In US

The allegation that Kenya’s most famous novelist, Ngugi wa Thiong’o, has divorced his wife Njeeri and is fighting a terrible physical issue has gone viral, prompting his friends and relatives to share recent images of the literally guru.

Kisumu writer Carey Baraka revealed the discovery in an article published in The Guardian after spending three days at Ngugi’s home in California.

After being diagnosed with chronic kidney failure in 2019, the author, playwright, and essayist revealed this news to Baraka in 2019.His health has steadily declined since then, and he is now in his final stages of life.

Ngugi was diagnosed with prostate cancer 28 years ago, and despite a bleak prognosis that only gave him three months to live, he beat the disease.

Baraka explained that his kidney failure has severely impacted his health, preventing him from physically attending his classes as a Distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature and English at the University of California, Irvine.

Triple cardiac bypass surgery was performed on him in December of 2019. The same kidney failure that had killed one of his siblings hit him at the same time, according to Baraka’s account.

At the time of his visit, he noted that Ngugi hardly left the house save for his three weekly dialysis sessions.

“My ailment has rendered me immobile at the moment. You need to find your way to me. “I am the king,” the author proclaimed to Baraka.

Now, Ngugi’s loved ones have spoken out to disprove The Guardian’s report that he was sick and lonely by releasing current images of the author.

His daughter, Wanjiku Wa Ngugi, posted a picture of her and her dad playing chess.

When writer and editor Munyao Kilolo paid 86-year-old veteran novelist Ngugi a visit earlier this week, he posted a photo of the two of them together and revealed the topics of their conversation.
