
Peris Tobiko was the first elected female Masaai member of parliament in 2013.
This was a National historic win after elders had sworn to “curse” her and her and her supporters for defying the patriarchal norms of the Maasai community by daring to seek a seat in elected office-something they believed to be reserved only for men.
She was re-elected for e second term as MP for Kajiado East Constituency in August 2017.
Today she defied her husband who ran report her to the police,went against her brother’s influence, CS Tobiko to support Raila for Presidency and officially announce she will vie for Kajiado Gubernatorial seat on UDA ticket and support H.E William Ruto for Presidency.
