After having an affair with his mother-in-law for nearly seven years, a Zimbabwean man decided to remarry her. In other words, he is now the father-in-law to his own children!
When Vashko Sande began to have feelings for his mother-in-law, he breached the trust of his wife.
He defied social norms by marrying the woman as his second wife, and then allegedly became aggressive and abusive against her. The elders in his community were powerless to “control” him.

Vimbai Magora, the wife, turned to the law because she was unable to accept her husband’s violent behavior.
“We got married in 2008, but since 2011 my husband has been hostile because he has fallen in love with my mother,” Magora stated in her petition for a peace order. He started being violent toward me and made threats to force me and my four children out of our home.
She continued by saying that not even the grandparents were able to salvage their marriage because he ignored their advice and kept in touch with his mother-in-law for so long.
In response, Sande said he was guilty as charged and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with the two ladies who had accused him.
Magistrate of Zvishavane Sande was ordered by Shepherd Mjanja to stop all physical and emotional abuse toward his first wife, Magora.
