Erick Omondi Responds to Allegations of Misusing Funds Raised for the Needy
Kenyan comedian Erick Omondi has recently addressed accusations from the public, alleging that he is diverting a portion of the funds raised through his social media platforms to help those in need.
In an exclusive interview, Omondi vehemently denied these claims, expressing shock and disbelief at the suggestion that he would exploit the generosity of well-meaning Kenyans.

During the interview, Omondi passionately refuted the accusations, emphasizing that the funds he raises are dedicated to critical situations, such as medical emergencies, where financial assistance is indispensable for survival.
He categorically stated, “We do not fundraise for school fees or for weddings or things like ruracios (traditional engagement). Things like those I can be tempted to take some money and keep to myself. I am fundraising for people who are depending on that money to be alive.”
Omondi underscored the gravity of the situations he addresses through his fundraising efforts, citing examples like kidney transplants and cases where individuals have been unable to bury their loved ones for extended periods.
He conveyed a strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of these funds, asserting that touching such money could lead to curses.
“If you touch that money, you might be cursed. We are dealing with kidney transplants, someone whose son has been in a mortuary for five years, and so I would never do that. I would never take any amount from a needy person,” he affirmed.
The comedian highlighted the moral distinction between various types of money, drawing attention to the importance of earning income through hard work.
He stated, “There are so many types of money, there is blood money, there is someone who is killing to get money, and then there is someone who is working hard to get money.
Eric Omondi is working hard to earn his income. I would never use that money for my gain.”
Throughout his various fundraising campaigns, Omondi has rallied Kenyans to support causes ranging from assisting a disabled mother harassed by Nairobi County officers to aiding a grieving mother unable to bury her son for five years.
His dedication to these causes remains unwavering, with a strong emphasis on using the funds raised for their intended purpose – providing critical aid in situations of dire need.
As the controversy unfolds, Omondi’s response serves as a staunch defense of his commitment to transparency and ethical fundraising practices, shedding light on the importance of maintaining trust with his supporters and ensuring that funds are allocated to the most urgent and deserving cases.
