Self-declared Tongaren resident of Bungoma County, Jesus, claims he and his wife’s safety are in jeopardy.
At the same time Christians all over the world commemorate the death and rising of the Messiah, the leader of the New Jerusalem group said that locals were threatening to crucify him in the same manner as the historical Jesus Christ.

Many in Bungoma claim that if Jesus is real, he will rise from the dead on the third day. But Eliud Wekesa, also known as the Bungoma Jesus, has gone to the authorities.
He feels threatened and wants police protection to keep himself and his loved ones safe. Although his detractors argue he should suffer the same fate as the historical Jesus Christ in order to establish his authenticity, he insists that even entertaining the concept of putting him on the cross was evil.
Bungoma Jesus’ controversial views and claims to be the actual Jesus have brought him widespread attention in recent months.
Only a small number of Kenyans, he said back in February, will go to heaven. His disciples have been praising him to the skies, insisting that he is the real Jesus Christ.
At a ceremony a few weeks ago, he supposedly changed water into tea through the power of a miracle. Yet, this miracle could not be confirmed.
