Governor Johnson Sakaja has been accused of collaborating with the Azimio La Umoja faction, which has drawn criticism from the Assembly’s minority.

Eli Kai Those in the minority in the Nairobi County Assembly have accused Governor Johnson Sakaja of colluding with the Azimio La Umoja party.

They claim that the city-county chief funded the January 23 political event that Azimio organized at the Kamkunji grounds, which was argued by the ward representatives. The MCAs warned Sakaja that they would not let up until he fulfilled the promise he had made to the people of Nairobi.

The political rally Azimio La Umoja held on January 23 could become the new source of disagreement between Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja and some members of the city-county assembly.

The lawmakers of Azimio La Umoja, led by their head principal Raila Odinga, and their followers gathered at the old Kamkunji grounds.

Representatives from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in their wards said the county head paid for the gathering the next day.

The leaders, led by minority leader Anthony Kiragu, have acknowledged that they are aware that the county charter hall was given out by the governor to be used as a meeting place for the rally’s organizers before to the big day.

The MCAs resolved to continue pressuring the governor to fulfill the pledges they had made to vote for him.

Despite coming from different political parties, Sakaja had already promised to work with the ODM leader before the MCAs’ news conference. Sakaja insisted he felt no remorse for cooperating with the disgraced ex-prime minister.

Sakaja stated on January 10 that he and Vice President Rigathi Gachagua have no issues. There has been considerable tension between Sakaja and Gachagua over the past several weeks regarding some directions in the administration of the county of Nairobi and, more specifically, the Central Business District.

Sakaja made it clear that he and his senior haven’t had any kind of disagreement since he values his senior’s role in the party and as the second in charge.
