Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of Elgeyo Marakwet, the cabinet secretary nominee for roads, transport, and public works, has revealed his net worth of Sh550 million.

Murkomen argued before the National Assembly Appointments Committee that his entire net wealth stemmed from his businesses and real estate. Below are what made Murkomen to acquire wealth worth KSh 550 million.
1. Properties
According to him, the properties that he owns and has increased his wealth to Ksh 550 million include houses, parcels of land and machinery.
Murkomen Owns a Mansion in Nairobi and another in Eldoret.
“Mr Speaker, I’m worth an estimated Sh550 million made up of majorly properties; my house in Nairobi and another in Eldoret,” he said.
2. Parcels of lands
He went on and revealed that he had three parcel of land. He owns one in Narok, another in Kajiado and also one in Nairobi which he claimed to be his residence.
“…three parcels of land in Trans Nzoia, a parcel of land in Narok, in Kajiado and in Nairobi apart from where I live,” Murkomen said.
3. Machinery
Speaking of Machinery, Murkomen disclosed that he owns some machineries although he didn’t specify. He went on and revealed that he also owns vehicles and also not forgetting a wheelbarrow.
“Cumulatively with a bit of machinery, vehicles, and also I own a wheelbarrow.” He added.
4. Salary as Advocates
However, Murkomen persued Law and reveveald that part of his wealth was as a result of hefty salary he got from SMS LLP Advocates. He Claims that this was his main sources of wealth.
“I practice law under the firm of SMS LLP Advocates, that is one of the main sources of income,” he added.
5. Salary as Senator
Murkomen also worked a Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet County since 2013.
“of course I’ve been earning salary from my job as Elgeyo Marakwet senator and I also have a bit earning from farming,” he added.

On the third day, Murkomen was the first to attend for vetting. Ten Cabinet nominees have been reviewed so far.
Kipchumba Murkomen is the current senator of Elgeyo Marakwet, and if approved, he will be forced to resign.
