The Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Passaris, is popular politician who is allied to ODM party leader Raila Odinga. Little is known about her personal life, particularly her marriage.
Esther is married to businessman Pius Ngugi and they have two children. Their marriage has had its ups and downs, including court issues in which Esther sued the Woman Rep and Ngugi counter-sued her.
In 2003, Esther sued Ngugi for breach of his marital pledge to her. In exchange, the entrepreneur asked for a $2,000 monthly allowance and a car to bring their children to and from school.
Later that year, the businessman sued Passaris, alleging that despite their agreement to settle the case, she demanded additional money.
Despite their previous differences, Esther believes they are good friends who get along well.
Ngugi is a wealthy Kenyan who owns Kenya Nut Company and Thika Coffee Mills. He is also a shareholder in Tatu City, one of the country’s greatest real estate developments.
Esther once told Lilian Muli that she did not intend to be in a polygamous marriage, but she found herself in one and is not ashamed of it.
According to Passaris, she struggled at first to accept the polygamous arrangement.
“I can’t be embarrassed or ashamed of who I am and what I have experienced. So if am ashamed of who I am, I mean there was a time that I battled about being in a polygamous marriage. I didn’t plan for it, I ended up in it,” She said during a past interview.
She did, however, express her unhappiness with the circumstances. Her primary concern is that her husband does not devote enough time to his children.
The female representative also discussed her relationship with her co-wife, indicating that she and her co-wife get along perfectly and that she often buys gifts for her stepchildren.
Ngugi is a polygamous guy with four children from his marriage to Josephine Wambui Ngugi.
