Kenyans on Facebook have in the past few hours expressed deep concern over the health of Cleopatra Wanjiku, a well-known HIV awareness advocate and businesswoman. This comes after she revealed she had been admitted to hospital following a sudden bout of food poisoning.

The incident happened shortly after she attended an empowerment programme at State House on Saturday. During the event, President William Ruto handed over various equipment to selected youth groups, aimed at helping them start or expand income-generating projects. Cleopatra was among the beneficiaries and appeared to be in high spirits during the function.

In a post shared on her Facebook page, Cleopatra uploaded two contrasting photos one showing her smiling among fellow attendees at State House, and another showing her lying on a hospital bed with an IV line inserted into her right hand.
“One minute you’re chilling at State House, the next you’re fighting for your life. Kumbe food poisoning can kill someone instantly? Leo nimeona vile kifo hukuwa karibu aisee,” she wrote, expressing shock at how quickly her health deteriorated.

She further told her followers that the pain she experienced was unlike anything she had ever felt before. Responding to a netizen who warned that food poisoning can be fatal, she admitted, “Sijawai feel the pain I felt.”
Her post immediately attracted hundreds of comments from concerned Kenyans, many of whom sent her messages of encouragement and prayers for a quick recovery.

Cleopatra is known for her openness about living with HIV and for using her platform to spread awareness, fight stigma, and inspire others. Her sudden health scare has sparked conversations online about the seriousness of food poisoning and the need for prompt medical attention whenever symptoms appear.
While she did not disclose exactly what she ate before falling ill, her followers are relieved to know that she is receiving treatment and is on the path to recovery.

Many have urged her to take time off and rest fully before resuming her activities.
