Kenya’s Public Debt Report to be Tabled in Parliament in the First Quarter of FY 2025/2026
Deputy Auditor General (DAG) Isaac Kamau says the Office of the Auditor General will table the country’s public debt report in the first quarter of the new financial year.
The Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee (CIOC) summoned the deputy Auditor General on Thursday to clarify allegations of corruption and laxity in the auditor’s office as some of the major impediments towards the full disclosure to the public, the amount of debt Kenya owes, and to whom.
In response, Mr. Kamau defended the integrity of the office, highlighting measures including staff rotations every three years, mandatory signing of a code of ethics, and post-assignment reviews.
He further noted an active collaboration with the anti-graft agency, EACC, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to keep their systems corruption-free.
He assured the committee that the long-awaited Public Debt Report will be tabled in the first quarter of the next financial year.
