The two blue eyed boys of the West in Kenyatta’s government. Britain however preferred dealing with McKenzie over Mboya in furthering their interests in Kenyatta’s government.

The British felt Mboya was pro-America, something that jeopardised their own interests in Kenya.
Even though Britain, America and Israel are strategic allies with close ties, they can be bitter rivals in furthering their interests, especially business.
For instance when Israel signed a contract with the Kenyan government to sell weapons to the Kenya Army, Britain sabotaged the plan and had the contract transferred to them.
The then British High Commissioner to Kenya and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office argued that the provision of weapons to Kenya was a preserve of Britain and Israel had to be stopped from breaching this.
The standoff could, however,be blamed on Mckenzie who was playing both Britain and Israel. He approached Britain and assured them about the contract but secretly went to Israel to negotiate for the same contract through his own company earning him a commission.
