At a Monday night meeting with Kenyans living and working in Italy, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had the audience in stitches with his humorous address.
This came about after the VP insulted Azimio leader Raila Odinga, who is leading the anti-government rallies, by bringing up former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

After the unveiling of the Finance Bill 2023, Gachagua informed the crowd that opposition leader Raila Odinga had chosen to call for protests.
He said Raila’s real motivation for leading the protests is to sneak into government. According to Gachagua, Raila Odinga has been employing the same strategies to regain power in the wake of electoral defeat since the days of the late president Daniel Arab Moi.
According to Gachagua, Moi appointed Raila to a government position, and the veteran opposition leader used the same strategy in 2007 to unseat President Mwai Kibaki’s administration with the Grand Coalition.

Gachagua then asserted that Raila Odinga had used identical tactics in 2017 against Uhuru Kenyatta, and that the former president had likewise caved to Raila’s threats and allowed him to join the cabinet covertly.
When Gachagua said, “In 2017, he sold fear to Uhuru Kenyatta and Uhuru being a Cerelac Baby, bought fear and allowed him to government,” the audience erupted in laughter.

“You know what happened, the Jubilee agenda was put aside and that is how we ended up in a debt of 9 trillion,” he continued.
Gachagua stated that it has been agreed that the opposition leader will not be allowed to join the Ruto-led administration using the same tactics.
He called Raila’s protest planning criminal and vowed they would not cave to pressure from the opposition leader.
