Maina Kageni, a famous radio host in Kenya, recently went viral after sharing a screenshot of his Mpesa balance, which he claimed to have just received.

This was revealed in a Facebook post by the veteran host of Classic 105 FM, who said that he had only 1ksh in his bank account.
Another caption from Maina Kageni’s scathing rant about his current predicament reads:
“Wueeh!!! To God be the glory.
However, the message received a flood of responses from internet users, many of whom were shocked by the supposed Maina Kageni’s Mpesa balance.

Mase Mugo penned: “Unbelievable”.
Paul Payian: Keep it up, bro: “Maina hapa unatuchocha.”
Michael Kiprop wrote: This is the main hapa unatuchocha.
Paul Nduati said:To the tune of “Wacha Yako Maina”
One possible explanation for the widespread skepticism on the internet is that Maina Kageni is currently one of the top paid radio broadcasters in the country, if not the highest.

The talented radio host reportedly earns between Kshs 1.5 and Kshs 1.8 million each month.
This doesn’t include the millions he likely gets in compensation from the station for his businesses and endorsements.
The radio show ‘Maina And King’ang’i,’ hosted by Maina Kageni and comedian Daniel Ndambuki (Churchill) aka Mwalimu King’ang’i, has made Maina Kageni renowned in Kenya.

However, the veteran reportedly did not begin his career in the media.
In fact, Maina Kageni started off as a truck driver in the UK before moving into the auto importation industry.
However, he started off as a swing shift broadcaster at Capital FM before moving on to the fledgling Nation FM.
Because of his talent as a host, Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo hired him to work at Kiss 100 FM.
It was at Classic 105 FM that Maina Kageni made his name, and the station is now among the most popular in the country.
