Arrests, fatalities, and violent scenes were hallmarks of the opposition leader Raila Odinga’s called for rallies against the Finance Bill 2023.
During yesterday’s protests, police reportedly killed three people and arrested hundreds more violently.

In Kisumu’s Kondele and Nyawita neighborhoods, two persons were killed by police gunfire as officers chased angry protesters. It was stated at 6 o’clock that the two bodies were still on the floor.
A young guy sadly passed away while receiving care at Migori Referral Hospital, as confirmed by the hospital’s director of health. The victim was shot by police while demonstrating against rising living costs.
Five protesters are recovering from bullet wounds received after running fights with police in Kisii County.
After these incidents, there was widespread backlash against the police. Human rights groups have claimed that police used disproportionate force against unarmed protesters.
It’s terrible that the cops had to resort to beating up unarmed protesters. Commissioner of Human Rights and Justice Executive Director Julius Ogogo has remarked that authorities should allow protesters to demonstrate and prosecute those who violate the law.
