President William Ruto has declared war on small company owners after the Kenya Revenue Authority received Sh1.2 billion to deploy undercover agents who will travel around local marketplaces to capture tax evaders. The goal of the government’s latest plan is to increase tax collection from all businesses, big and small.

It has been pointed out that Mama Mboga will be hit worst by this new regulation. This is because their short-lived businesses bring in very little money, thus getting caught by the government would be devastating.
There will likely be a mass exodus of small business owners. Small business owners, who often have low tax obligations due to low profits, will not be excluded from paying under the new law.
Kenyans say President William Ruto is adding to their burdens, despite his campaign promise to aid small business owners like Mama Mboga. The purpose of forcing them to pay taxes is to increase overall revenue.
