Blow To Kenya Taxi Apps As They Receive New Rival, Yego, Which Charges Lowest Commission at 12 Percent.

Just today, we posted that Uber, Bolt, Little, and Yego are the four e- taxi apps with official Kenyan licenses. Although, many are curious as to what Yego is and why it has emerged.Photo Courstesy

Nonetheless, it is important to note that the company has just recently begun operations in Kenya and that its entry into the country has been, as can be seen, sanctioned by the country’ s transport body. With the help of its Kenyan subsidiary, Yego Mobility Kenya Limited, the company plans to provide personalized taxi service to the country’ s residents.

According to a statement released by Yego, this innovation is the result of two years of ” extensive on- ground feasibility studies” that sought to identify and understand the challenges faced by both drivers and passengers.Photo Courstesy

Yego now has a lower commission than Little by 2 percentage points. The standard rate is 18%, although Little only charges 15%. Furthermore, the organization covers drivers who meet certain requirements with both medical and personal accident insurance at no extra cost.

Drivers will be able to collect their earnings whenever they like, subject to the real processing fees, and fares will be adjusted to reflect changes in fuel costs and traffic conditions. To ensure the long-term stability of its drivers, YEGO Mobility Kenya has pledged to contribute 10% of its dividend to a savings and credit cooperative (SACCO) being established specifically for them.

Yego, which debuted in 2016, is a well- established e- taxi app in Rwanda. Intelligent Connected Fare Meters were used for the first time, making this company the first licensee in Rwanda (ICFM).

Scan the QR code for the unique ” Pair Ride” to begin your ride with Yego. To facilitate navigation and fee computation, Passengers’ destination and preferred payment option are automatically communicated. Passengers can simply exit the vehicle at the end of the ride without having to dig out cash or enter a PIN using the in- App wallet.

Yego has only been operating for two weeks in Kenya, but already claims to have partnered with 5, 000 drivers. At the moment, access is restricted in Nairobi.
