The singer joined forces with Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen in September 2016 to further the goals of the foundation she established in 2012 in honor of her grandparents. Her trip to Malawi coincides with a widespread push to expand access to quality education, particularly for females.
Rihanna Seeing Robyn Fenty assisting in the construction of a hospital in Malawi came as a huge shock to many. The benefactor, dressed in work clothes, was spotted assisting the construction workers in their quest to acquire sand and water.

This follows her recent appointment as Barbados’ “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary” to further the island nation’s interests in the areas of education, tourism, and investment.
“Rihanna’s generosity, particularly in the fields of health and education, is evidence of her strong love for our country. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley remarked, “She shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to appreciate the island as her home.”

Before the end of the year, Rihanna and the Clara Lionel Foundation went to Malawi alongside Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to help out the country’s poorest children.
The singer and GPE ambassador shows her curiosity about the country and its education system in a new short documentary. She wants to know more about the problems there, such as the high dropout rate among elementary school students due to a lack of funding.
