A 28-year-old guy has set the Internet abuzz with discussion of his feat of constructing a helicopter out of scratch using only found materials. Geoffrey Otieno of Rabongo Village, Siaya County, has impressed his fellow Kenyans with images of his nearly finished airplane.
In 2019, he started gathering the various components he would need to become the first Kenyan to build a Helicopter from scratch.
His mom says that Otieno’s early ambition to own a plane was evident.

“He has been promising his younger siblings since fifth grade that he will take them flying in an airplane,” she claimed.
Otieno has remained optimistic throughout his career in aviation engineering, while facing heavy scrutiny and mistrust.
People around me were so suspicious when I first started building these gadgets. Otieno added, “They tried to make a fool of me, but I have always been optimistic.”
Geoffrey Otieno has come clean about the motivation behind his innovation, saying that he has always wanted to possess a plane. As he has admitted, he has never been within shouting distance of a chopper.

Only in pictures and movies do I notice rotorcraft. I’ve never even been able to get within a few feet of one,” he continued.
Thin stripes of the colors of the Kenyan flag adorn the nearly finished plane. Although Otieno has yet to demonstrate any symptoms of taking flight, he remains optimistic that with a little assistance, he would soar.
I would be up in the air right now if I could only meet an engineer and have him show me what I’m doing wrong.
In recent months, citizens of Otieno have urged the authorities to begin developing the region’s abundant resources.
