Ted Kitana, who played Teacher Kilunda on Tahidi High, has spoken out about how he was forced to return to his rural home after losing his job as a result of the cancellation of the show.
For nearly 15 years, Teacher Kilunda was a mainstay on Citizen TV’s weekly local broadcast, but when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, she had to suddenly leave her role.

In an online interview, he explained that they were let go “very suddenly” because “we woke up one morning and our skills were not needed.”
So I had to come up with strategies for survival on the go. Making the decision to move here was the first step (in Kangundo). After some time, I’ve grown to appreciate living here. They still live in Nairobi, but I prefer life in the country. No hassle, just delicious, freshly prepared food. Apart from the rare occasion when a work chance presents itself, I have no intention of returning to the city,” he continues.
He has launched a YouTube account, where he wants to produce videos for his followers to enjoy.
My business is open. I intend to start a business providing services that are currently unavailable in this area, such as a barbershop. I have not left the stage entirely, so I am also open to acting opportunities. I am interested in hearing about potential opportunities.
Although he acknowledges that some of his colleagues and acquaintances in the industry are on the verge of breaking down, Teacher Kilunda appears to be one of the performers who has successfully navigated their way through the epidemic.
The loss of their primary source of revenue brought about by Covid-19 was the worst thing that could have happened to artists. I tell them that although life has changed, they shouldn’t give up hope. Everyone out there was affected, and only the brave have a chance of making it through unscathed.
One actor who has had trouble making ends meet is Kamau Kinuthia, better known by his stage name, Omosh. His story about how he couldn’t afford to pay the rent or provide for his family went viral.
The actor’s story went viral in Kenya, and he has since received presents of money and even the chance to build a house.
