Honourable Peter Kalerwa Salasya, who defied his poor upbringing to win the Mumias East Parliamentary seat in the August 9th election, is a happy man now that he has a new roof over his head thanks to well-wishers from his community and beyond.

Even before earning a cent from his employment as a legislator, the youthful and always amusing politician who won the parliamentary seat on a DAP-Kenya party ticket has begun to see his background progressively transform with a facelift of his home.
The mud-walled but tile-roofed house was more of a community initiative, with hundreds of locals helping to build it.
He wrote on Facebook that “my precious people of Mumias East constituency, you promised me that you will not allow your leader and your MP who has championed for Mumias Sugar Company’s revival not to continue living in a shameful house.
Nevertheless, MP Salasya thanked the people of Mumias for constructing his house to completion before his first salary.

“You made it a reality that you have finished this project even before his first salary. Today, this mansion is complete and habitable.”
However, the happy MP went on and gave the vulnerable a glimpse of hopes. He revealed that next week when he receives his first salary, he will be going to build houses for the needy in three wards in his constituency.
“When my first salary hits in, I will reciprocate it back and construct houses for those vulnerable in my three wards starting next week, ikisha ingia. I’m proud of my people for this big honours.” He stated.

This indeed is a good gesture from the residents of Mumias constituency.
