Karen Nyamu, a lawmaker and social media personality, is too level-headed to be rattled by naysayers.
She was nominated to the Senate as a representative for women and is a member of the UDA. Which looked like quite the accomplishment.
Their presidential candidate William ruto had just won the election.
Earlier, she expressed her joy by posting a flag honoring President William Ruto on her official Facebook page.
And then she captioned it in luo, stating, “ting Badi malo,” which translates to “raise your hands” in English. The luo people, who voted overwhelmingly for their candidate Raila Odinga, may have been offended by the addition of a luo caption on Ruto’s presidential banner.
A supporter of hers pointed out that this was indeed an insult to the Luo people.
He went on ahead and reminded her that people are born into their tribes and not chosen, and he warned her that the prejudice she has toward the Luo people is a poisonous seed that would one day bear a sour harvest.
For this reason, Karen felt compelled to respond. Karen assured him that the luo are not particularly insecure, and that it was his own insecurities that he was discussing on her blog.
