The media came under fire for how it covered the recent midterm elections. It was reported in July that the majority of the media outlets favored Raila Odinga over the newly elected president, William Ruto.
Then, the vice president complained that citizen tv hadn’t given his campaigns enough airtime. However, this did nothing to address the obvious bias.

Now, it appears that President Ruto is interested in revitalizing KBC, the government’s official media outlet.
KBC has responded favorably to the change, tweeting a mockery of the biased stations.

If you kill your enemy, you’re killing yourself, as KBC tweeted. The Azimio camp, however, sees this as an unnecessary act of retaliation.
On Tuesday, Ruto was sworn into office, and his team decided for Multichoice and KBC to air the ceremony.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold his victory, Ruto directly questioned the whereabouts of Citizen tv in his acceptance speech.
Attempts by Citizen TV to rally public opinion in favor of Raila Odinga and Martha Karua resulted in public caravans on Mount Kenya.
