Jacky Vike, well known by her online stage name Awinja, is a skilled actress and well-known comedian. Both her acting and her fashion sense are distinctive. Awinja is the third of five children, with two brothers and three sisters; she was raised in the Eastleigh neighborhood of Nairobi’s Kanuku and Madiwa.
Her breakthrough came when she was cast as a maid in the popular TV show Papa Shirandula. The chemistry between her and Wilbroda, her supervisor, made the episode compelling. She’s stunning, hilarious, and a born performer, so it’s no wonder she’s been on so many TV shows.
In addition to Papa Shirandula, she has been in other plays and played a prostitute in the critically acclaimed film Nairobi Half Life.
The stunning actress started her education in Western Kenya at Heshima Road Primary School.
At the age of four, she began displaying signs of an interest in the arts by participating in choral verse performances. She participated in the high school theatre festivals and, after graduation, she joined a company called Theatre-Ensemble, whose members played out scenes from high school set books.
She started performing with Heartstrings’ stage company a year later. Additionally, she played a schoolgirl in the NTV series Wash and Set.
Awinja is married to Alfred Ngachi, a prominent art director. They have a son, who she doesn’t talk about online.
