Former police spokesman Charles has officially joined the ODM party and will compete for governor of Siaya on August 9th.

Mr. Owino, who resigned from the civil service earlier this month, is now vying for the ODM party’s nomination with Senator James Orengo of Siaya, former banker Otieno Okanja, former UN employee Bella Akinyi, and advocate George Mugoye Mbeya.
Mr. Owino, who has worked as a police officer for 29 years, spoke after being officially welcomed by ODM officials at the party’s Alego/Usonga branch office in Siaya town. He wished his competitors the best of luck but called for peaceful campaigns.
Mr. Owino, who exuded confidence in his ability to gain the party nominations and thus the party ticket, claimed that he will now launch a robust campaign to promote his plan for Siaya county.
If elected governor of Siaya County, he indicated that his goal is to make Siaya one of the first counties in terms of development.
He claims that they are committed to ensuring that the party has as many members as possible, and that the duty of choosing the flagbearer will remain firmly in the hands of the electorate.
