Competency Based Curriculum popularly known as the CBC is an education system that was introduced to replace the 8-4-4 system. Since its implementations, CBC has received objections from parents as many claims that it is demanding in terms of resources.

When President Ruto assumed the office of the president, he vowed to review the CBC. This coms after parents complained of the new education system.
However, Dennis Syambi, who is a political analyst has shared his thoughts concerning the CBC. Speaking to TV47, Syambi defended CBC claiming that it has consumed a lot of resources. Despite of that, Syambi emphasised that the system is not bad.
“This CBC has consumed a lot of resources from Kenyans. It is not a bad system.” He said.
He went on and revealed that CBC should be properly reviewed so that it can reflect the expectations of a common parent.
” if it is properly reviewed and harmonized to reflect the expectation of a common parent in Kenya, it is going to work.” He added.
To him, in CBC system, parents do feel the pinch more than the students.
” …I don’t think there is a huge problem with students in this. The main problem is the parents.” He added.

About the review team, Syambi termed them as great men and women. According to reports from reliable sources, over 40 trained personnel had been chosen as part of the review team. The political analyst prayed that the review team will not trash the Competency Based Curriculum.
” …These are great men and women from this country. I hope they are not going to trash this CBC. We have invested a lot of money in it.” He added.
Instead of throwing the Competency Based Curriculum away, Dennis Syambi explained that it will be nearly impossible for us to throw it away. He insisted that there is a working formula for the 8-4-4 system.
” We can not afford to throw it away and go back to 8-4-4 system. There is a working formula for this 8-4-4.” He concluded.
Do you think it will be wise for the review team to scrap out the CBC? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
