Bernice Saroni, a Kenyan mother, recently shared the remarkable story of how her children became American citizens.
Her tale involves challenges, cultural adjustments, and ultimately finding a new life in the United States.
Saroni, who was once pregnant and planning to travel to the US to give birth, decided to take a different path.
She opened up about her struggles and how her kids ultimately became American citizens.
Saroni revealed, “They [children] went to school here (Kenya) until 2018, that’s when things went zigzag (in the marriage), then I relocated to the US in November 2018.”

The decision to leave her children in Kenya for six months after her move was a deliberate one.
Saroni wanted them to be comfortable when they joined her in the US. However, this transition was not without its challenges.
Upon arrival in the US, her children were culture-shocked. Saroni could not provide the lavish lifestyle they were accustomed to in Kenya.
She shared, “So when they came, they were like, ‘Mom, this house is the size of your bedroom [in Kenya].'”
The adjustment to a two-bedroom apartment from a spacious five-bedroom house in Kenya was challenging for her children.
They initially expressed a desire to return to Kenya, feeling out of place in their new surroundings.
Saroni explained, “They had a culture shock; it wasn’t easy. Now they love it. After two years, things worked out well, and I bought a house so everyone has their own bedroom.”
Regarding her work in the US, Saroni clarified that she is not a trailer driver, dismissing claims to the contrary.
Instead, she revealed her diverse roles, saying, “I am a business lady, I am a promoter, and I am a nurse.”

Bernice Saroni’s connection to Mugithi singer Samidoh is also noteworthy.
She is Samidoh’s cousin and played a supportive role when the singer’s wife, Edday Nderitu, first relocated to the US.
In May 2023, Edday and her three children embarked on their journey to the US and were welcomed by Bernice Saroni in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bernice Saroni’s journey to American citizenship for her children has been one of challenges, cultural adjustments, and ultimately, success.
Her story reflects the resilience of a mother determined to provide a better life for her family in the United States, despite the initial difficulties they faced.
