    Selena Gomez message to Kenyan head of state after touring kenya for the first time

    After American singer Selena Gomez visited Kenya, a trip which was very private she had observation about the Kenyan culture and after returning back to America released a video through her Facebook page where she was addresing Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

    In the video selena revealed that while in Kenya she met people who are fighting for the right for free and inclusive education

    She revealed that her trip to  Kenya  was filled with shock after meeting with  people who are fighting for the right for free and inclusive education.

    She also noted that “Countless students in Kenya are not receiving a quality education including 59% of girls who are not even going to school.”

    Selena further lamented over what she described as poor and most marginalized people in Kenya missing out on critical chances

    According to her, President Kenyatta had promised to increase spending on education from 17% to 30% in the national budget. Something which he has not actuallised and she therefore requested Kenyan head of state together with his ministers to swiftly handle the case.

    The pop-star added that she is part of the 41,000-global citizens campaign requesting President Kenyatta to deliver on his promise.

    In her final remark Selena noted “I’m joining you to ask the Kenyan minister of education and President Kenyatta to show how they plan to live up to the 30% promise.”

    While addresing thousands of African youths attending the ‘Global citizen festival :Mandela 100’ in Johannesburg, Southfrica President Kenyatta promised that Kenya would increase its national budget allocation to education to reach 30 percent, making it among the highest in Africa.
