The masses [Peasants/Hustlers] had no specific tribe. They were people of the same class, sharing a common background in terms of their economic status, and are drawn from different ethnic backgrounds.
In the end, and after a strong Political struggle, the peasants have it, and they seize power from the rich and powerful elites that had ruled for so long, and how terrible fall it was for the rich.
Petals of Blood by Ngugi Wa Thiong’o is no doubt a novel that needs to be read again and again, and retold more clearly even as we head to the August polls.
What is interesting is that Ngugi has been read in many countries of the world and his stories and fictions have always come to pass.
More interesting is the fact that Ngugi Wa Thiong’os ideas are now being tested in his motherland in the runup to the political duels of August this 2022.
