Charity Kaluki Ngilu with Kibaki.
Here, both were presidential candidates an election that was marred with historical malpractice.

Kibaki came second after Moi Matiba followed and Ngilu came seventh.
Kibaki was born to Mr. Githinji Kibaki and Wanjiku Githinji in Othaya Nyeri. He was the last born in a family of five. His father Githinji was a tobacco merchant and a farmer hence he was named Kîbakî meaning raw or unprocessed tobacco. Kibaki would never be known in Kenya. All of his siblings were busy in his father’s farms. Since he was the lastborn, his father saw him disturbing and the solution was to tie him in school. He sent him to school. The rest is history! Kibaki passed very well in both primary school level and at Mang’u highschool. He would later join Marere University in Uganda and passed with first class degrer in economics and later London school of Economics. He was the first African Student to have attained a first class degree in entire institution.
Finally, Mwai Kibaki is the person who suggest the name Uhuru to his mother when he was born. He would later compete with him in 2002 elections which Kibaki won.
