Kiambu: A five-story building collapses.
Hundreds of renters were e*******ed on Saturday night when a structure under construction caved in and pushed on their homes.
There were no i******s recorded, with eyewitnesses reporting hearing a tremendous noise minutes before midnight only to discover that the 5-story structure had collapsed and was leaning on a neighboring apartment.
So far, authorities have managed to secure the situation, ensuring that no one is injured as the cause of the fall is investigated.
The location had been blocked up to keep interested onlookers out, according to Kinoo Deputy Assistant Commissioner Rosemary Mwangi.
“We are asking locals to keep off the area lest they get hurt in the event the building collapses further”, she said.
She stated that the security apparatus is awaiting direction from other relevant authorities such as the National Construction Authority (NCA) and the Kiambu County administration on how to dismantle the leaning building without endangering people’s lives.
