    Kisii police Arrest Man Who Slapped Woman for Shouting Azimio at William

    A man who was caught on camera slapping a woman in one of Deputy President William Ruto’s rallies in Kisii region has been arrested.
    The man who was in the crowd was seen slapping the female on the cheek from behind after she shouted “Azimio” instead of Kenya Kwanza back at Ruto on Thursday 10 February.
    Perhaps miffed by the woman’s conduct, Joash Atemba Nyagate, slapped her then stretched out his hand as though he wanted to shake hands with another man who stood behind the lady.

    A man who was caught on camera slapping a woman in one of Deputy President William Ruto’s rallies in Kisii region has been arrested.

    The man who was in the crowd was seen slapping the female on the cheek from behind after she shouted “Azimio” instead of Kenya Kwanza back at Ruto on Thursday, February 10.

    National Police Service said they were well aware of the disturbing and widely circulated video clip after a section of Kenyans called for the man’s arrest. Consequently, spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed the officers had captured Nyagate alias Sokoro over the physical assault and will arraign him once investigations are completed.

    National Police Service said they were well aware of the disturbing and widely circulated video clip after a section of Kenyans called for the man’s arrest. Consequently, spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed the officers had captured Nyagate alias Sokoro over the physical assault and will arraign him once investigations are completed. “Police in Kisii have acted on the incident and made an arrest of one male person namely Joash Atemba Nyagate a.k.a Sokoro. He is in police custody assisting with the investigation and will face court action once the investigation is completed,” Shioso said. At the same time, the police service advised the public to exercise restraint and accommodate divergence of opinion during the electioneering period to mitigate instances of lawlessness.
    Four arrested for heckling Ruto Barely two months ago, police in Kisii county arrested four youths for heckling Ruto during his tour at the Itibo market.
    According to Sameta OCPD, Benjamin Rotich said that the four were charged on December 9, 2021. Photos seen by TUKO.co.ke showed the police engaging in a scuffle with some of the suspects during the evening incident. The officers were forced to fire teargas at the crowd that had grown unruly while Ruto was addressing them. The youths were shouting at Ruto and his entourage, claiming that Kisii belonged to the ODM party associated with his opponent Raila Odinga.
