Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi says he will not sit in President William Ruto’s cabinet meetings until a memorandum discussing the issue of police extrajudicial killings and abductions is tabled to be discussed.
Speaking on Wednesday during The JKL Show, CS Muturi, who has been vocal about issues of abductions and extrajudicial killings in the country further expressed that resigning would be an act of cowardice, emphasizing his commitment to constitutionalism and the promises made by Kenya Kwanza.
“Attending Cabinet meetings is mandatory unless excused by the President. I have formally written and requested to be excused from attending these meetings until or unless the issue of abductions and extrajudicial killings is officially tabled before Cabinet through a Cabinet memorandum,” the Public Service CS said.
Muturi maintained that as a lawyer, he would continue speaking out against abductions and extrajudicial killings in the country, even if it costs him his job.
“If I am fired for speaking against abductions and extra-judicial killings in this country which is unconstitutional and which we as a government campaigned and vowed that it would never happen on our watch so be it,” he added.
The defiant CS has not attended any Cabinet meetings since he publicly called out the government over the ongoing abductions across the country.
He rebuked the government and the NIS after his son Lesly Muturi was abducted last year in the company of his friends, including Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje.
